For many safari-goers, Kenya's main attraction is Masai Mara National Reserve, known as a prime park for wildlife spotting, including sightings of the "Big Five"-- lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants and rhinos. On some trips, visitors can add to their Kenya experience by meeting locals in a nearby village.
Each year, more than a million zebras and wildebeests make the journey from Tanzania’s scorched Serengeti to this reserve, which is characterized by grasslands dotted with acacia trees, wide savannahs and densely wooded regions. With eyes on the sky, bird-watchers can spy myriad species, while others can check out hippos soaking in the Mara River or gazelles and impalas roving on land.
Open Mon-Fri 7am-10pm, Sat 8am-10pm, Sun 9am-10pm, CDT
